In order to understand the challenges faced by the local commissioners of these services, and how they can be supported to meet those challenges, in early 2017 the CSA Centre commissioned a rapid review of local commissioning, combining a literature review with detailed exploration of commissioning in five local authority areas.

Based on interviews with commissioners, commissioning partners, service providers and local practitioner experts across the five local authority areas, this study explores the ‘who, what, why and how’ of commissioning practice for CSA/CSE work. Highlighting current strengths and weaknesses in current CSA/CSE work, it also reveals the support that commissioners would like to receive.
