Are you currently undertaking PhD research related to child sexual abuse?

We’re inviting PhD researchers to join us for a friendly and participative one-day workshop at London Metropolitan University on Tuesday the 30th April, to speak about, and present, their ongoing research.

The workshop is a unique opportunity for researchers across disciplines and specialities to have an informal and supportive conversation about their work, share individual challenges, and recent successes. Most importantly – it offers participants the chance to become part of a support network of researchers engaged in similar work.

We welcome students at any stage of their PhD journey to join us at London Metropolitan University, and encourage them to present on the research undertaken so far. Attendees can share early results, thoughts or concerns about concepts, research design, methods, ethics – whatever it would be useful to consider with the help of peers and experts.

We’re delighted to once again have the longstanding support of our expert workshop co-facilitators, Professor Liz Kelly, Director of the Child and Woman Abuse Studies Unit at London Metropolitan University and Professor Miranda Horvarth, Director of the Institute for Social Justice and Crime at the University of Suffolk, who will offer advice and guidance based on their years of research experience.

What past participants tell us

Now in it’s eighth year, the CSA Centre’s student workshop is popular with students across a wide range of research areas, including social work, education, health, policing, criminology, psychology and more. Past participants have told us they felt the workshop was a safe and encouraging environment to speak about the difficult subject of child sexual abuse and help progress their studies.

It’s great to connect with experts as well as fellow researchers and to [be able] to speak freely without judgment and receive highly supportive feedback and engaging conversations throughout the day.
