We are a multi-disciplinary team, funded by the Home Office, hosted by Barnardo’s and work closely with key partners from academic institutions, local authorities, health, education, police and the voluntary sector. However, we are independent and will challenge any barriers, assumptions, taboos and ways of working that prevent us from increasing our understanding and improving our approach to child sexual abuse.
Our Steering Group is made up of representatives from various governmental departments including:
- Home Office
- Department for Education
- Department of Health and Social Care
- Ministry of Justice
- National Policing Lead on child protection and abuse investigations
- Crown Prosecution Service
- National Crime Agency
Together these representatives ensure that the CSA Centre’s work ties in with cross-Government priorities and the latest understanding of threats or opportunities. They also help to ensure that the evidence produced by the CSA Centre is fed into national policy development.
The Steering Group usually meets on a quarterly basis and is chaired by the Director of Tackling Slavery and Exploitation at the Home Office.
