About the helpful resources for adult survivors of child sexual abuse
More information about how our helpful resources hub works and the resources you can access there
The helpful resources hub aims to make it easier for adult survivors of child sexual abuse to find reliable resources that meet their individual needs.
The hub brings together resources that have been reviewed to ensure they meet our principles for inclusion. As such, all resources included are:
-
- trauma-informed, recognising the impact of trauma and prioritising survivor wellbeing
- culturally sensitive, respecting diverse backgrounds and avoiding cultural bias or insensitivity
- privacy‑ and safety‑conscious, protecting survivors’ confidentiality, minimising unnecessary data collection, and ensuring they contribute positively to wellbeing without creating additional risk or harm.
As far as possible, we have tried to include resources which are:
-
- concise and clearly-presented, communicating information in a straightforward, succinct manner and written in plain language
- accessible, ensuring that users, including those with diverse reading preferences and needs, can easily read and navigate the material
- free to use and non-commercial (and where this is not the case, this has been indicated)
- non-ideological i.e. not based on any singular moral, political, or belief system (and where this is not the case, this has been indicated).
We have included resources that address a wide range of topics, in a range of formats (PDF, webpage, podcast etc.) and which are relevant for different people. Where resources are available in other languages, we have indicated this.
How to use the hub
You can use the filters on the left of the platform to look for resources that feel most relevant to your needs, or you can use the search box to look for resources that address specific topics by typing in a word or words. You can then refine your search to see:
- the most relevant resources to your search i.e. which best match the search terms you put in (sort by ‘relevance’)
- the most recently created resources (sort by ‘date created’)
- the most recently added to the platform (sort by ‘date added’).
You can also choose to display the results in ascending or descending order.
If you come across any resources that concern you, please email us on info@csacentre.org.uk and let us know. You can also suggest a new resource for inclusion by filling out the form here.
If you need more support
These resources are not intended to be a substitute for specialist support, but they can help people to understand what they are going through, feel less alone, and build skills that support healing and recovery. Many people use these kind of resources alongside counselling, therapy or peer support, or as a first step towards it. They can help people to understand trauma, reduce self-blame and build coping skills, at their own pace and in their own space. You can look for specialist support here.
Note: all resources included on the hub are externally hosted and have been identified as relevant to or suggested by survivors. While we review submissions for suitability, inclusion does not constitute endorsement or approval by the CSA Centre. We recommend users make their own judgments and seek professional support where appropriate. If any resource appears harmful or inappropriate, please notify us immediately so we can review it. All resources listed on this site remain the property of their original creators. Our platform acts solely as a directory and signposting hub to help users find information and support from a variety of trusted sources. We do not reproduce or host the full content of these resources, and their inclusion here does not imply ownership, endorsement, or replacement of the original provider’s work. Users are encouraged to visit the source websites directly for the most up-to-date and complete information.
