Louise Hamer

Advisory Board member

Louise Hamer is Named Nurse, Safeguarding Children and Cared for Children at Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, a specialist mental health and learning disability provider that supports children, young people and adults living in Greater Manchester.

Louise has worked for the NHS as a children’s nurse, CAMHS practitioner and Health Visitor for over 20 years, developing a special interest in safeguarding children and families through early intervention and community-based support.  Louise moved into safeguarding leadership roles in 2016 and has since held positions in both provider organisations and the ICB across Lancashire and South Cumbria and Greater Manchester.

Louise is passionate about adopting a children’s rights based, trauma responsive approach to safeguarding practice and is firm in the belief that harm is predictable and with the right support in place, preventable most of the time.  She has acted as principle investigator for a national research project around serious youth violence, funded by the Youth Endowment Fund, as guest contributor to For baby’s Sake a national domestic abuse charity and had work published in capturing the voice of the child in patient safety and serious incident responses within health settings.
