Learn about our fully-funded training programme designed to improve the social care workforce’s response to child sexual abuse.
Over the next two years, the CSA Centre is offering free training which aims to help improve the knowledge, skills and confidence of the social care workforce.
This fully-funded training programme will support local authorities to respond to recommendations and learning from prominent inquiries and investigations, including; the National review into child sexual abuse within the family environment (2024), the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (2022), the Casey Review (2025), and the Joint Targeted Area Inspections on child sexual abuse in the family environment (2020 and 2025/26).
We recognise that this comes at a time of major reform within social care, and the CSA Centre want to assure leaders that this offer will support changes, rather than cause undue additional pressure.

Webinars: A strategic approach to workforce development on child sexual abuse
We’re hosting regular free webinars to help you embed this extensive programme of free training for the social care workforce.
Hosted between July 2026 and January 2027, our Taking a strategic approach to workforce development on child sexual abuse webinars will provide an overview of recent recommendations on effectively responding to child sexual abuse, and explore the different opportunities within this training offer to improve your teams’ knowledge, skills and confidence. Supervising cases of child sexual abuse training for managers
A manager’s role can be crucial in helping social workers make the right decisions with families, to reduce the risk of sexual abuse to children and young people, and to support them when abuse has occurred.
This course, Supervising cases of child sexual abuse for social care managers, equips participants with the knowledge needed to effectively support social work practice in relation to cases of intra-familial child sexual abuse. - Issue eLearning licenses/SCORM files to all local authorities in England to give access to our intrafamilial child sexual abuse eLearning package over the next two years.
- Rollout of a monthly 2-hour train the trainer session for social work education providers, and ASYE trainers (including social work academies and teaching partnerships) – giving unlimited access to training materials and resources for ongoing delivery (delivered nationally)
- A 10 session webinar series for the whole social care workforce, covering all aspects of child sexual abuse (delivered regionally). These can be recorded and stored on local learning platforms for longer term access.
- A Practice Leads Programme for every local authority/pair of local authorities/region.
How to take part
We have under 2 years to deliver the programme, and so timely engagement with local authority workforce leaders is essential.
We are keen that Local Authorities think strategically about the offer so that we build capacity and sustainability in the longer term. As such, discussion with local authorities will include consideration of readiness for the programme of work. We will be offering free webinar/workshop sessions throughout the year to support workforce leads to take a strategic approach to embedding learning for the longer term.
We will require workforce leads to support us with advertising the offer locally, ensuring attendance at sessions and contributing to evaluation activity.
