We’re hosting regular free webinars to help you embed our extensive new programme of free training for the social care workforce.
The Department for Education is funding the Centre of expertise on child sexual abuse (CSA Centre) to deliver a programme of training for the social care workforce to improve the response to child sexual abuse. This training is available free of charge to Local Authorities across England.
To help Local Authorities think strategically about the offer so that we can build long term capacity and sustainability, we are holding free webinars for social care workforce leads.
The webinars provide an overview of recent recommendations on effectively responding to child sexual abuse, and explore the different opportunities within this training offer to improve your teams’ knowledge, skills and confidence.

We are holding webinars at 12:00 – 13:30 on four dates between July 2026 and January 2027.
The sessions are for anyone working within children’s social care on workforce development, including principal social workers, training managers, and workforce leads.

Yes – this training is free of charge.
The Department for Education has funded the CSA Centre to deliver this training programme with the aim of improving responses to child sexual abuse in different contexts across England and Wales. This means it can be delivered at no cost to safeguarding agencies.
To ensure this course has it’s intended impact, we are asking workforce leads to advertise this training offer across relevant agencies and teams over the period of this offer.

The Department for Education funded programme of training for the social care workforce to improve the response to child sexual abuse includes:
- eLearning licenses for all local authorities in England which provides access to our intra-familial child sexual abuse eLearning package over the next two years.
- Rollout of a monthly 2 hour train the trainer session for social work education providers, and ASYE providers (including social work academies and teaching partnerships) – including materials and resources for ongoing delivery (delivered nationally)
- Rollout of a monthly 2 day course for social work managers on supervising cases of child sexual abuse (delivered nationally)
- A 10 session webinar series for all social care practitioners (delivered regionally)
- A Practice Leads Programme for every local authority/pair of local authorities/region.
This session will provide an opportunity for workforce leads to think strategically about how they equip their workforce to identify and respond effectively to child sexual abuse. It will cover the following areas:
- Setting the context – an overview of recent recommendations for safeguarding partnerships in relation to child sexual abuse
- Undertaking a training audit
- Exploring the opportunities within the training offer
- Embedding learning from the Practice Leads’ Programme
- Utilising helpful resources
- Staff care and wellbeing
