Would you like to feel more confident sharing information to safeguard children from sexual abuse and learn more about what the new information sharing duty means for you and your role?
This free webinar will introduce our new guide, Sharing information to tackle child sexual abuse, and explore how it can help you put the new Information Sharing Duty into practice.
About this webinar
The Department for Education has recently published statutory guidance to support the implementation of the Information Sharing Duty, which came into force on 30 September 2026. The duty aims to ensure that relevant organisations and practitioners share information where it may help safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
For those working to protect children from sexual abuse, this is an important moment to make sure everyone understands what information they hold, who they should share it with, and how to do so safely and lawfully.
When a child is at risk of sexual abuse, timely, effective information sharing plays a vital role in early identification, protecting children from abuse, and supporting their recovery and wellbeing. Yet professionals often tell us they are unsure what they can share, worry about getting it wrong, or don’t know which agencies hold the pieces of the picture.
This free webinar will introduce our new guide, Sharing information to tackle child sexual abuse, and cover who holds information about children at risk of child sexual abuse, how to find, share and use information confidently, and practical approaches to overcoming common barriers to sharing information between agencies.
Who is this webinar for?
This webinar is for any professional whose role may involve contact with children, including those in social care, health (primary care, mental health, accident and emergency, midwifery, health visiting, sexual health), police, adoption services, fostering services, schools and any other relevant services in contact with children, young people, parent(s) or carer(s).
The timings of the webinars have been selected to ensure that anyone, no matter their profession, should find a convenient time be able to attend.
About our introductory webinars
The introductory webinar series is designed to help professionals working with children and families to build confidence using our practice resources to identify and respond to child sexual abuse.
This session will be led by one of our Practice Improvement Advisers from the team who published this resource. Our advisers have significant experience working with children and families where harmful sexual behaviour is a concern, delivering training, and working within multi-agency safeguarding arrangements.
