Training and development framework

A framework to help multi-agency safeguarding partnerships, organisations, teams and services ensure that learning about child sexual abuse is consistent, progressive and tailored.

How can this resource help you?

The CSA Centre’s Training and development framework provides a structured approach to developing the knowledge, skills and confidence required to prevent, identify and respond to child sexual abuse.

Designed for everyone responsible for the learning and development of anyone who works with or comes into contact with children and families, the framework helps to ensure that learning is consistent, progressive and appropriately matched to what people need to know about child sexual abuse.

The framework sets out six groups of safeguarding responsibility, recognising that people need different levels of knowledge, from those whose role may bring them into contact with children and families through to those with strategic oversight and organisational compliance responsibilities. It promotes a shared language and understanding of child sexual abuse, including both abuse by adults and harmful sexual behaviour by other children.

When using our guide to develop strategic responses to child sexual abuse, the framework can help multi-agency safeguarding partnerships to ensure their practitioners and wider partners have the skills, knowledge and confidence to fulfil their roles and responsibilities.
